Our second day of ministry the Holy Spirit was moving in an awesome way. He was breaking our hearts, literally bringing us to tears. We were filled with a supernatural love for everyone we were praying for. When we arrive in villages a lot of times we go from house to house worshiping, in fact it feels like caroling- it’s just not christmas music, lol. Then people come outside and we may tell them the gospel, or a testimony, or teach their kids action songs, but we always pray for whatever needs they have and bless them. This night we went house to house throughout the entire village. We were invited into 3 houses and as soon as we started worshiping Jesus the lights went out and turned back on as soon as we finished in each house! It was awesome because a lot of times singing is somewhat awkward but that night we were honestly just in worship and we could feel the Holy Spirit’s presence.

We saw 7 miracles of God healing people. I know God doesn’t heals every single person, and as a nurse I think medicine is awesome, but God does still do miracles today. We see it more here for some reason. Sometimes I think it is because God is all they have. He is their only hope!… Anyways, we split up into 2 groups. One went with the pastor and Drew, Howard, Casey and I went with the pastor’s daughter Rebecca who is only 12 but is very mature and a powerhouse! She translates the needs of the people so we know how to pray for them. We came to one little shack/house, probably one of the poorest I’ve been to so far and saw an old lady crouched down on the floor. Howard and I went to pray for her. She had a veil over her head, was very
malnourished, appeared frail, back hunched over, and had cloudy white eyes.

In all honesty she looked kind of scary. When scooting toward us, she had her legs sort of far apart and scooted in a crouched position on the floor closer to us and had her hands outstretched like she was trying to reach out and find us. We talked about it later and one of my friends said when they described her in their journal they realized “she looked like something out of a horor movie.”

We asked Rebecca how we could pray for her. The lady(90 yrs old) told us how her daughter died a year or so ago and she has kids from 6-10 yrs old (one was in the room with us and is also very malnourished). She said the kids have to work and can’t go to school because they are so poor. Her son-in-law was behind us and looked very numb and checked out. She said all this through her tears. As she was crying our hearts just broke!

I could hear Drew crying while praying for her son-in-law, and after a few minutes he joined Howard an I in prayer for Martha. I wound up holding her and hugging her while we both just wept and Howard also continued to hold her hand and pray. I asked if she knows Jesus? She said yes, and that she was catholic. She obviously has no way to make it to church. I prayed God would comfort her and let her feel His presence. That He would love on her right then and there. I prayed that He would provide for
them in an awesome way where the kids could go to school and be fed. I prayed that God would mend the son-in-laws heart and that he would have a zeal for life again and take joy in his kids. That he would find a job and be a hard worker.

I prayed for this beautiful ladies eyes since she was blind, that she would get new eyes! Also the lady lift her sari and put my hand straight on her breast! Sort of SHOCKING. This is the 2nd time in India this has happened. I have no idea what that meant, so I prayed for complete healing in her body. Her breast, her ribs, her bones, etc. I was crying so hard
I had snot all over the place so hugged her and walked away, overwhelmed.

Drew called me back and said she was reaching out for me still. So I went again and hugged her and told Rebecca to tell her I wont forget her and her family and will continue to pray.

As we were walking to the next house, I almost felt done. I felt like, God, I’m so overwhelmed I’m not sure how you can use me the rest of the night. I told myself to get it together. We go to the next house Drew starts praying for a small child around 5 yrs old that cant walk, Casey started praying for a man, and I started praying for his wife. Rebecca told me that she has been married for 13 yrs and hasn’t been able to have babies. I have so many friends who have had a really difficult time having babies, and so my heart really did go out to this lady.

I started praying and because it’s such a dark place, I first prayed against any demons/evil spirits in her or tormenting her to leave in the name of Jesus. Immediately!IMMEDIATELY she started flailing/thrashing back and forth. This is the first time I’ve ever prayed for someone who needed a catcher. It scared me because I thought, oh my gosh I can’t hold her and she is going to hit her head on the concrete. Our team hasn’t ever had this happen before and it hasn’t happened since, but- I prayed for what seamed like eternity, but sure it was really like 3 seconds before Casey and the husband came to help, lol. Casey started praying too. I asked God’s spirit to be released and to give her peace in the name of Jesus. The exact moment I said “peace in the name of Jesus” she completely stopped and was calm.

This lady doesn’t speak English, but demons speak every language apparantly. We walked outside and everyone wanted to know what happened. Everyone could her her blood
curdling screams from when she was thrashing. I told her what happened. I also told her I wouldn’t forget her and pray in 9 months she will have a little one. She started
crying again, not the same, but still crying pretty hard. This time she didn’t stop until I held her. Indian people do not do this often that I see, hold random strangers, but I felt like God used me that day. That when I hugged them they could feel His love.

Needless to say we left that day somewhat drained, but still filled with the hope of what God is doing here and what He is going to do this month. I know for a lot of you this all sounds really bizarre. I come from a pretty conservative background- but God is doing amazing and crazy stuff here. I pray it encourages you, and doesn’t confuse you, and that it encourages you that His love is powerful! He loves you so much! He died for you! Take that to heart today! Thanks to EVERYONE for you support and prayer! Please do NOT stop! They are powerful!
