Hello friends!

If you are reading this blog then you probably already know that I am going on the World Race Gap Year trip in September!

As I think about all God is doing in my life and how He brought me here, I am amazed. God often takes us just one step at a time, even though we don’t know where He is taking us or what the journey will be like.

Last summer I went to Swaziland for a month on a mission trip with Adventures In Missions (AIM), the same organization that runs the World Race Gap Year. I remember one day in Swaziland I was at a Care Point for orphans and impoverished children. At lunch time all the children gratefully took their bowls of food and found a place on the dry, dirty ground to sit and eat. One child crawled up into my lap with her bowl. As we sat there on the dusty ground, I remember thinking, “I want to do more of this. I want to continue to live among this kind of people and share Jesus’ love with them around the world. I don’t want this to be a short term thing. I want it to be an important part of my life.”

It was around the same time that I first heard of the World Race Gap Year. I was fascinated with the idea of spending 3 months each in 3 different areas of the world. I was so full of joy and excitement in Swaziland, and I wanted to have a similar experience for an even longer time! I resolved to pray about this possibility.

Several weeks after my trip, i was continuing to pray about my future and the World Race Gap Year. At the same time, I was reading Follow Me by David Platt. While thinking about WRGY, i read this: “Trust completely in God, and when He brings you to a new opportunity of adventure, offering it to you, see that you take it.” I felt strongly that God was using this book to affirm my prayers about going.

I continued to take small steps toward this trip. I went through the application process step by step, always in prayer. About a month ago I was accepted by AIM to go!

Throughout this experience, God has taught me so much about trusting Him. Now, He is asking me to trust that He will provide the funds for this trip. I know that I cannot afford this on my own, but I also know that God can and will provide everything I need!

I am always amazed that God uses ordinary people like you and me to share His love throughout the world! You can be a part of what God is doing around the world through me through your support! Just click the “Support Me!” link on the left side of this page.

Thank you so much for reading this, and for your prayers and support!

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” – Matthew 28:19-20
