We finished our first full month on the race last week in Kenya.  It was hard to say goodbye to some of the friends that we had met, but we all felt like it was time to go.  It was a good feeling when the guys we stayed with keep telling me I could not go, or asking when was I going to return.  I think it was harder for them than it was for us, because they are not used to people coming in and out of their lives as much as we are since they live in a small town in Kenya.  They had prepared for us a commissioning service our last night there, which many people from the church that we had been in contact with came to say goodbye.  Our team also presented to the church a cross; we had one of the local carpenters prepare for us.

This past weekend, we meet up with the whole squad for a day off in Jinja, Uganda before we went on to our separate ministry locations for the month.  It was great to have the opportunity to see every one and hear stories of how their month went.  Jinja is located right on the mouth of the Nile, so we had the opportunity to raft part of the Nile, which was awesome.  It made some of the rafting I had done is The States look like a trip down the lazy river.  There were also some amazing views along the way, and thankfully there were not crocs or hippos in the section we were in.

Yesterday was our first full day in Rukungiri, Uganda.  We had an 18 hour travel day the day before and did not arrive until early in the morning the day before.  It was great to see our contact for this month Pastor Enoch still waiting up for us when we arrived at 4 AM.  We have a great place to stay this month on top of a hill looking out over the town.  I even have my own room, which I never thought would happen this year.  It looks like this month will be filled with lots of children’s ministry and going door to door around the town.  Our Pastor has even mentioned that he wants some of us to preach at the local churches, so please pray that God would give me the words to say if I am called to do that.  Since we already had the chance to go visit a boy’s school across the street from where we are staying and I was asked to give a word.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers, and I look forward to letting you know what this month has in store.
