This month has continued to go well for all of us here in Maylaybaly.  We have really got a chance to get to know some of the kids here at the home we are staying at, which is going to make it that much harder to say goodbye when it’s time to.  Since at first many of them where very shy especially the older guys but they have really started to open up lately.

Last week I also had a chance to go the local jail with Jodi, a former World Racer who has come back to Maylaybaly to start a home for some of the boys in jail called New Life.  We had a chance to share with the youth there about ourselves, help them with their studies, and I even had the opportunity to play some basketball with the guys while at the jail.  It was raining the whole time, but they loved it.

We have also been involved with some of the Campus Ministries at the University here where we are staying.  Some of us have had the chance to speak but all of us have been leading small groups at the end.  It has been good to get to know some of the locals here who are closer to our age whom we can relate to better than the kids at the home.

Some of us guys have been busy helping out at New Life, the boy’s home building a basketball court.  We started from scratch digging and leveling the ground, then mixing and pouring the concrete.  It has been a good opportunity for us to work with the boys there and spend time with them.  I can really see God moving in their hearts especially with all they have gone through in the past.

A few of us even took the opportunity to climb the 4thhighest peak here in the Philippines, Mt. Kitanglad.  A couple of the workers at the children’s home and one of the boys from New Life came with us as well.  It was great chance to get to know them and spend some more time being with them away from their normal lives.  The climb was a lot harder than any of us expected, luckily there was a small bunk house on the top for us to sleep in cause there was no way any of us had the energy to turn around and go back down.

As always thank you for your prayers and support!
