This past week has flown by.  Last week we were doing children’s ministry at the church every afternoon.  We had around 100 kids show up each day, we sang songs, did a short Bible lesson, and did crafts or played games.  The lesson was on the Fruits of the Spirit and each day we would go over a different fruit and act out a bible story that portrayed that fruit.  The kids loved having us there, it was a little difficult sometime since not all the young kids speak English and there was not always someone to translate for us.  The last day we had a little party for the kids, they all went crazy as soon as we brought out the balloons.  All they wanted to do was pop every balloon they could get their hands on.
On Sunday we had another marathon church service, and I mean it.  It took me less time to run a marathon than the time we spent in Church Sunday morning into the afternoon.  However I still enjoyed seeing the people’s enthusiasm for the Lord and their willingness to let us be a part of it.

Monday was our rest day.  A few of my teammates were not feeling very well so they stayed at the house and rested.  Scott, Kayla, Emily and I meet up with one of the other teams in Kisumu.  Kisumu is the 3rdbiggest city here in Kenya and it is right on Lake Victoria.  The pastor the other team is working with had a friend there at owns a boat who was kind enough to take us out on it.  It was a little overcast but the water was still calm which was good since we had about 20 people packed on a boat made for about 15.  They took us out to Hippo Point and were we saw some hippos swimming around in the water.  The driver of the boat got about 20 yards from the hippos, which at first was a little scary until we realized they were more scared of us than we were of them.  After our boat ride we went to Mega City which is a very large shopping center where we stocked up on Oreos and Nutella.  We also had the best pizza I have ever had, probably since it’s been so long since I had one or even the taste of cheese.

Yesterday we finished up our scheduled ministry here in Siaya with a youth service for those in the church.  It was my first opportunity to speak on The Race.  At first I was a little nervous but once I got going it was not too bad even though, I feel like I rushed through want I wanted to say.  I spoke from Romans 5:1-5 on perseverance through life’s struggles.  When I got done all I could think about is what I should have done differently, so it felt good when both Victor and Eugene (the older boys we are living with) came up and told me how good of a job I did and that it was a powerful message.

Tomorrow will be our last full day here in Kenya. I will miss this place but even more so the people.  It is starting to hit me how great the people are here and all they have done for us to make it possible to be here and minister to the people of Siaya.
