It’s my last night. Tonight is my last night at home for the next nine months. In less than twelve hours I will be heading to the airport to leave my home in exchange for an unknown journey. Just thinking about all the things I am about to experience takes my breath away. There are too many thoughts/emotions running through my head and my heart; all the people I won’t see for nine months, all the people I will see in the next nine months, the amazing people I don’t know yet. Leaving my comforts for so long and experiencing things I could never imagine in the States. But along with all these things I can’t wait for, there are some things that are a little scary.. and that is when we need to breathe. Mom and Dad, breathe. Friends and family, breathe. Drew, breathe. I have been placed in an amazing place, I’m in Gods hands and they are strong and safe. I think that it’s okay to say that I have a little fear about what the next year of my life has to hold but I also know that when I take a second to breathe I remember God is in control. So I ask that if you have any fear in your heart for me going to these places unknown to us that you breathe and know that He is good and He is with me.
Now I thank you!! I want to thank everyone that has helped me financially and in prayer because without you I would not have met my deadlines and I would not be leaving tomorrow morning. I am not yet fully funded but I am close so thank you!
Cambodia!!! Most people I believe already know this but not everyone, so this is an update for those who don’t know! At the end of training camp we were told that they added another country, Cambodia!! So with this beautiful addition my new and improved journey looks like this:
Month 1: Cambodia
Month 2 & 3: Thailand
Month 4, 5 & 6: Malawi
Month 7, 8 & 9: Guatemala
Month 10: Home!!
Keep me in your prayers and thank you all again. Follow my journey by reading my blogs throughout the next year! I’ll do my best to write often. Next time you hear from me I’ll be in Cambodia!! And so the journey begins…
Love,
Drew Alyssa Jansma
