Cambodia is affectionately known as The Kingdom of Wonder. During our month here we have found many wonders inside this wonder, here are 7 of them.

1. Angkor Wat

This actually is one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It was built around the 12th century and over the years has served as both a Hindu and Buddhist temple.

2. Food

Most Cambodian meals consist of 3 things:  Rice, veggies, and some type of meat. However, Cambodians do enjoy treats such as fried cockroaches, spiders, or these sun-dried frogs.

3. Transportation

The majority of transportation here is on the back of a motorcycle (called a moto) or on one of these Tuk Tuks. A Tuk Tuk (pronounced took took) is basically a moto with a modern day covered wagon on the back. Convenient? Yes. Comfortable? Not always. Clean air? Never.

4. Smell

Cambodia has a smell all its own! Between the interesting foods roasting (or rotting) on the streets, the lack of clean air, and the lingering scent of incense burning on every corner, Cambodia is a place our noses will not soon forget.

5. Language

Needless to say Cambodians speak little to no English. Khmer is the language here and, as you can see, it does not even use English characters. Good luck trying to guess what the road signs say when you get lost!

6. Buddha

He is everywhere in Cambodia. Everywhere. From giant statues in the temples to shops on the street bursting with Erin sized Buddhas to the mini shrines and figurines found outside most homes, it is not hard to find him.

7. God

Yep, He is also everywhere in Cambodia. Everywhere. Only you will not find a statue of Him sold at the market. And you might have to look harder or believe more or dig in deeper, but you can find Him. And He is at work here in Cambodia. He may not be working in the thousands of giant shiny temples, but He is working. You will probably find Him quietly changing peoples lives in small community groups, like this one our team visited.
