In a blog I posted last month, I asked for you guys to pray for the ministry that God is carrying out here at NC State. I wanted to take a minute to give you guys an update about what’s going on here in Raleigh and how tangible your prayers have been! Last Wednesday, February 5th CRU (Campus Crusade for Christ- the organization I intern with) hosted a women’s event called “Women’s Night Out”. At this event, we had Marian Jordan Ellis speak about her past and the work that God has done in her life. Her testimony is incredible, she was attacked by the enemy constantly telling her that she wasn’t good enough, pretty enough or worthy of true love. Throughout college she fell into the party scene and let guys treat her like she was worthless..only after graduating did she find a relationship with Jesus and see that she was worth more to the father than the empty life she was living. I encourage you to check her website out (here) to find out more but that is a very short synopsis.
Anyway, she spoke to a room of about 300 girls, all students from NC State and Meredith College down the road. Her words were anointed by God and you could tell the holy spirit was speaking through her. Through the grace of our loving God and as a result of the many prayers sent up that night, including yours as you have prayed for my team’s ministry at NC State… by the end of the event, 76 GIRLS GAVE THEIR LIFE TO CHRIST!! 56 of those girls were sorority girls, which is a population we as a ministry have not had a ton of luck really getting into so to have this revival is INCREDIBLE! Now, our goal is to meet one on one with every one of these 76 girls and about 100 more who rededicated their lives to Jesus that night. For a lot of these girls, they are trapped in a cycle of feeling worthless and finding their identify in drugs/sex/alcohol so PLEASE continue to pray for them and for our staff as we strive to break into this dark territory of campus and begin new bible studies for these new believers. God is so good and I am so so thankful that I have been able to be a very very small part of what he is doing through CRU at NC State. Y’all are wonderful and I am so thankful for you…for all the prayer warriors who enjoy the bullet point list here are some things to be praying for:
-praise God for the revival he has led at NC State
-pray that God would raise up Christian student leaders to lead bible studies for these girls
-pray for the 76 girls that gave their life to Christ last week and for them to realize that a lifewith Jesus may not easier and it may seem like they have to give up a lot in the short term but is so much more fulfilling and rewarding to live with Jesus by your side!
finally, pray that God would multiply the work of our small staff in the face of this large mission….with him all things are possible!
Thank you supporters!
Love, Drea
