Since the beginning of this trip, I had a desire to connect with one my best friends who was also my roommate in college, Josh Palet. I shared this desire with my team while in Las Vegas, and they came alongside my desire and trusted the Lord to use it.
His family very graciously opened their home to us, and my team and I had the opportunity to stay there for a few days. I was able to reconnect with my friend, and we were all able to connect with his family. I was able to spend some time with Josh’s dad, Dave, and it was truly some of the best conversations I’ve had on this trip. He is full of wisdom and humor, and it was a pleasure to be able to sit around with him and some of his friends who came over. It was also really cool to see the different people who came over to see him because they enjoy the conversation and the fellowship that comes along with it.
Our last night there, his Aunt Mary was bringing food over so his mother Rita invited us to eat with them. His aunt connected with the girls very quickly. The night ended with her prophesying over all of us, and her inviting us to come stay with her.
So, the next day we loaded up and went to her and her husband John’s home where we stayed for a few more days. We were able to connect with them and share our stories, watch shows, and eat community dinner every night together. Being able to listen to Jon’s stories from throughout his life was awesome. He was an extremely gifted individual who is a great definition of gentleness and humility.
A couple of days before we were leaving, two of our women went to church, and some alumni left a note on the van wanting to connect with us. So we reached out, and they ended up hosting us for a couple of days. Shaun and Bethany welcomes us in, and we really hit it off with them. We fell in love with both of their kids Aliyah and Zion. Their was so much good fellowship that happened just in our two short days there.
To sum it all up: I got to reconnect with some of the most special people God has given me in this life that led to a connection with his extended family. One of my teammates, Carolyn, found a wonderful friend in Aunt Mary. Random Alumni (Shaun and Bethany) turned into family. We all found forever family in San Diego, and God used them to show us how trustworthy he is.
Our team is now in Ridgecrest, California where we are partnering with an anti-trafficking and the FCA organization. We have been here for three days, and we have seen so much fruit and connected with so many people. The Lord is moving in this city and it’s an honor to be a part of it.
I hope this blog blesses you, and it allows you to see a glimpse of how the financial support you’ve already given me and my team is being used to bring Kingdom here in our nation. I am so expectant of what the Lord is going to continue to do with World Race America this year.
