HELLO sweet souls!
This Christmas I received one of the most amazing gifts, I was accepted to The World Race!
The Race is an 11 month mission trip to 11 different countries to radically live out the call to be disciples and share the GREAT news of the Gospel. In October of 2017 I will be leaving to serve in Albania, Bosnia-Serbia, Malawi, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama. It’s overwhelming yet exciting to even look at the list of countries we will be serving.
World Racers meet the needs of the local community by working with ministries already in place. It may be visiting orphans, ministering to sex trafficking victims, construction work, teaching English, VBS, and basically anything else the community needs to show them the Lord’s crazy incredible love.
The past three years have been a whirlwind from going off to Ole Miss, rushing a sorority and making life-long friends only to come home before the year ended to finding my place at the community college close to home and diving back into Youth Ministry at the parish I grew up in. Through it all there has been the uncertainty of what I’m supposed to be doing, I wasn’t cut out for an out-of-state school and I then didn’t find fulfillment in continuing school back at home.
I have always been one to act impulsively on an idea without fully thinking it through but The Race was different. The Race has been popping up in my life at random over the past five years. Whether it be hearing about it in passing or now actually knowing people on it, I have always had it in the back of my mind.
“But WHY, Lord? Why does it need to be this radical? I couldn’t even live 10 hours from home, how do you expect me to do 11 months abroad?”
I eventually realized that I cannot give a solid concrete reason as to why this is what I need to be doing, all I can tell you is that the Lord said GO so best believe I’m going to get myself up and go.
But in all seriousness, I have heard the light whispers that turned into thundering shouts. I have heard the reassurance and promise of good-will. And I have felt the warm hand of the Lord putting my mind at rest and gently pushing me out the door.
The World Race is a radical opportunity of a lifetime and I am so stoked to see how the Lord not only changes my heart but the hearts of those I meet. The only thing I wish to leave behind is a trail of kindness that makes others want to leave a trail themselves.
We are put on this Earth to be disciples of nations, to tell the good news, to build the Kingdom up in his majesty; there is no better way than to touch those that need the Lord the most.
Our faith is the most sacred and powerful thing we posses, we have the ability to love and be loved by an all-knowing God. How stinkin cool is that? We get to be filled with the goodness and graces of the Holy Spirit until we are overflowing! – but only if we let it. We can try to live our lives how we see fit or we can let the will of God be done and rock out a life so insane and so wonderful it seems unreal.
As I enter these next 10 months of preparation, I still have a lot to do. The main thing is fundraising. To go on this trip it costs about $18,000, not including all of my equipment, vaccinations, etc. Our Lord is the ultimate provider, and I have total faith that He will provide the funds, people and resources needed to go on this trip. I would also love if you would pray for me as I prepare, that the Lord would prepare my heart for everything He will lead me to encounter across the globe.
If you feel led to financially support me on this journey with the Lord, the simplest way is by clicking on the tab on this page labeled “Support Me”.
I thank you all so much in advance for any support you provide me with, prayerfully, financially or just a warm hug.
Thank you for letting me pour out my soul to you and I’m so excited to keep doing so over the next two years. I am so privileged to even be put in this position and I am ready to see what good things are coming.
