My name is Donte Minter and I am currently in the first month of my commitment to the world race. Currently I am still on the emotional and spiritual high from being accepted and having my prayers answered.
My backstory is that after I graduated from high school in 2015 I decided to attend college at Charleston Southern University, where i would continue my football career. About the time I reached my third semester I began to feel the call of the lord on my heart more than ever before. I knew that because I have a history in mission work the Lord was calling back to the mission field because his work with me was not done yet. For some time I didn’t chose to listen to all the Lord had for me because I was unwilling to put my football career on hold to do his work.
The following months were the hardest because I was in the process of deciding to follow God or stay in school to play football. During the summer of 2016 I had the blessed opportunity to live with two men of God that influenced my Christian walk in a powerful way. They showed me what it was like to follow the Lord and listen to what he had to say. In December of 2016 I decided to return home from school and pursue God’s calling on my life to do mission work, that is when I began the search for mission trips to be apart of. For a few months I struggled with the fact that I wasn’t in school and that I wasn’t playing football, but the excitement of being able to travel the world to do God’s work was what kept me from emotionally breaking down. It took a lot longer than I expected to find the mission trip God was calling me to do, mostly because I wanted the trip to fall into my terms rather than allowing God to work through me.
Finally I decided to submit to God and allow his will to be done. Then one day I came upon God calling for me, and that has been the world race… the trip that the Lord had been calling me to all along. His power, mercy, and grace have led me to where I am now and I am eternally thankful for what he has done, is doing, and will do in my life. I am very excited for my training camp in July and my launch In September.
