Wow. What an incredible day.
My team, along with two other teams, traveled to “trash mountain”—named as such for being built on a giant pile of garbage.
It is know as one of the poorest places in the Philippines.
We had the opportunity to come alongside some long term, local missionaries and share the love of Jesus with the kids of the community by singing songs, blowing bubbles, painting nails, playing games, and bringing a cooked meal for all of them.

It is difficult when I see so many needs that I want to solve; some children didn’t have any clothes, food, or bowls to put the food into. I realized though, that it can be more harmful than helpful if I were to come is as the “savior” and fix all those things. It is not my place. The long term missionaries are there for those provisions, and are already starting to make a huge impact on the community!
My only job is to love. I know that today was a success because of all the laughter and fun we had with all the kids! I learned that happiness doesn’t lie with where I was born, or what I have; it is becoming a kid again as well as appreciating all I do have!

PS: I am so close to reaching my final deadline for fundraising (only $1637 to go!) Please help me reach my goal by going to the top of my blog and donating. If you donate in the month of July, you will be automatically entered into my raffle! Check out previous post for more details!
