You know you are in Africa when…
- The dirt roads are in better condition than the paved ones.
All three of them.
- We stayed in a hotel just outside of Accra, Ghana’s capitol
city, our first three nights. Even in our hotel we were without running water
and electricity a good amount of the time.
- We visited a local fishing port to evangelize and pray for
people. Looking out to the beach, you
could see tons and tons of children playing in the water with pieces of scrap
wood that functioned as makeshift body boards. All of the children were naked.
- After the 43 of us finished dinner our first night in Ghana,
the women that served us came around and collected all of the leftovers and
scraps that were left on the plates. They then put them all in a big bowl and set them outside the gate. Within seconds of putting them out, nearly 50
children came running as fast as they could to see what they could get.
- One day we visited the local hospital to pray for the
sick. Because the hospital did not have
enough beds, there were people in much pain, lying on wooden benches in the
hallway with IVs in their arms.
