Haiti is all over the news right now, is all the talk of Christian missions circles right now, and receiving tons, roughly 1.6 million dollars an hour, of aid… and rightly so. It should be the reaction of the church to respond to disaster and horrible suffering. Christian organizations should be the first ones leading the way to care for those who are in need; it is what Christ calls us to. So, good job to all of you who are getting involved and giving; however, I would like to bring something to your attention:

“There are about 3,000 abortions a day in the United States and about 130,000 a day worldwide. Which means that the horrific, gut-wrenching reality of Haiti’s earthquake on January 12 happens everyday in the abortion clinics of the world.” Dr. John Piper’s recent article, “Born Blind For the Glory of God.”

Please take the time to read Piper’s article along with some of his other writings on abortion. Do some research. These numbers are horrendous, and it is the job of the church to get involved, to strategically find ways to alleviate the death-toll, and to spread awareness. Don’t go bombing abortion clinics or shunning women who have had an abortion, both are stupid and unbiblical. Find out what Jesus would have you to do.  Adopt. Be the most loving people, you have ever met, so that when a loved one needs advice, you will be the one she comes to. Vote. Write (kind, Christ-centered) letters. Love. But, most importantly… preach the gospel and live it out, devoting yourself to making disciples because that’s what Christians do, not killing babies.
