I am back in Chichicastenango for a nice warm cup of chocolate con
leche withthose cute little marshmallows.
This week has been rather interesting, and a welcomed
refreshment both physically and spiritually.
Monday, we were given another day off of work, and while
Team Increase decided to spend the day riding a bus, Team Jubilee decided to stay back and
rest. It was a great day of resting,
reading, and praying until Matthew and I decided to take a little walk that
proved to be rather educational.
You see, when you are walking down a random road in rural
Guatemala searching for a certain tienda and a gentleman stops you asking,
“donde vas?” You respond, “la tienda,” and he responds saying, “que
tienda?” You probably shouldn’t just
keep walking as if to salvage any remaining pride. If you do, you will find yourself walking a
very long way before you come to a dirt road that dead ends into a cornfield,
and instead of turning around and walking back by said gentleman… to avoid
humiliation you might decide it would be a better idea to make your way back
through the cornfields, across the streams, and through the “jungle” up the
mountain to the church.
