The same week our team was cooking for everyone we hosted all the local kids for VBS. Each squad had a station to run. Some squads put on dramas that were themed different every day. One day was David and Goliath, another Noah’s Ark, and the last was Daniel and the Lion’s Den. After the drama the kids went to snack, where the cooking team (us) had a snack for them every day. Either fruit or Peruvian cereals (horrible tasting fruit loops and cocoa puffs). After they had snack and dance party time with us they went to the game station where they played games. Pin the Jonah in the Whale was my favorite.

Each day had the same routine with different stories. The kids started out skeptical at the beginning of VBS. What are all these white people doing here? They don’t even speak spanish? After the first day, they started getting into the games and had a fun time. We were able to communicate even if we didn’t know a lot of spanish. The week was a blast.

We ended the week with a grand mega super grande party festival. On Saturday we had a few hundred kids outside the facility. We had dancing, singing, games, and handed out toys to each child. They were super happy to get them. Before they got a toy we had Ashley from our team give a narration to a drama of the salvation story. From sinning in the garden to Jesus dying on the cross for all mankind to restore the relationship with GOD. She did great in communicating it to the children. Hopefully I will be able to get the recording of it uploaded so everyone can see it.

At the end we had an alter call of sorts where we asked if anyone wanted to accept jesus into their hearts, We had many children respond. If just a few of them were genuine, then it was so worth it. I loved seeing the teams and kids all having fun this past week.

Every Saturday, for the rest of the month, we will be doing kids events. Hopefully we will see some of the kids then as well. I am excited to help with the school the next couple weeks. We will be teaching, painting, and landscaping. Also each week teams will be in charge of preaching at youth and adult services on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. I am terrified to preach, but it is going to happen sometime this year.

Thank you to those who have continued to give. Thanks to your donations, I am now above 14,000 in funding. I cannot believe how blessed I have been. I am well beyond my next goal of 11,000 by October. However, some of my teammates are well under that goal. If you or someone you know feel like you would like to help out a fellow racer, please consider helping. Check out rachelkrause.theworldrace.org and lindaswier.theworldrace.org

Thanks again to all my family and friends. Keep praying for us to do amazing things. I cannot wait to report the miracles God will perform over the next ten months.
