This month we have been Camping out at Sedia Hotel and

Campground. We are doing ministry a little different ths month.

We are on an Unsung Heroes team this month. Our goal is to find

new ministries doing Kingdom work here in Maun, Botswana and the

people working hard to keep them going. Then AIM could possibly

partner new World Race teams with them in the future.

The first few days was researching the internet and asking locals

about ministries in the area. We got several leads and emailed

them. We were expecting a few days before we heard back, but God

had other plans. Within ten minutes of emailing, we heard from

Onkagetse(Onks). We had gotten his email from facebook for a

local teen club. This ministry was just the smallest ministry he

is involved with. We set up a meeting for the next day.

We met in the evening and learned about all he does here in Maun.

The Scripture Union of Botswana is his main ministry. He says it

is his 24/7 ministry. The goal of SU is to create cell groups in

schools to have bible studies, worship, and even full services

for the young people. Each school has a teacher that liases

between the SU coordinator(Onks) and the students. The meetings

are encouraged to be student led and run.

Scripture Union is present in ten of the Junior and Secondary

schools here in Maun. Several hundred students attend these

meetings from once a week to, sometimes, three times a week.

These meetings are purposed to keep the youth from fading into

the struggles of the world here in Botswana.

Onks also coordinates help for a local primary school. He has had

short term groups come and teach at Thito Primary School. He has

a great relationship with the school’s administrator. He has a

great relationship with everyone in this city, actually. Everyone

we asked about him: First, knew who he was and second had great

things to say about him and what he does.

He also started a youth group here in Maun for local Teens. This

is the Teen Bible Club. The teens have since grown and taken

control of the club themselves and run it on their own. They meet

once a month and Onks visits each month to see how they are doing

and for encouragement. He is so proud of these young people and

how much they have grown.

If all of that is not enough, every day, he tries to volunteer at

a local Elderly Home. He cleans, feeds, and ministers to the

elderly there. He says it is one of his favorite things he does.

It makes him happy to be helping those that others sometimes

forget, and to see the smiles on their faces when he comes.

Onks is an amazing Man of God and is doing incredible things here

in Botswana. He is a true Unsung Hero. I pray that he could

possibly becom a partner with AIM and get some help from the

future teams of The World Race. God Bless Him more than he can

handle.
