Hello all. This has been a great week. I have been ramping up preparation for my golf tournament April 13. Trying to get sponsors and volunteers. If you know any businesses or persons who would like to sponsor the tournament let me know.
My fundraising is going well. I am at $8200 of $16285. Officially over 50%. Woo hoo!!! Thank you to all who have supported me so far. This has been such an incredible journey of faith. I would like to share some of my fundraising stories.
When I first began my fundraising, it was very frustrating. I was always worried about how little money was coming in. There were many sleepless nights. It was really bothering me. Then one little thing after another happened that confirmed to me that this is where God wants me.
So, after being accepted to the world race, I needed to start reducing my expenses. I decided to sell my brand new car. I had worked hard to afford my car. However, I felt I needed to put my all towards what God was asking me to. So I sold my car for just under what I owed. My sister was gracious enough to loan me the balance to pay my loan off. Once it was all done, I was saving money for the race, but now I had no way to get to work or anywhere. When I told my boss about the world race I was terrified of the reaction. The opposite was what happened. He was excited for me. He then offered to let me drive the catering van until I left. This allowed me to save on a car payment and insurance. What a relief.
Since before applying I have been felt called to go to Japan for missions. When the world race presented itself to me, there were no routes to Japan. I felt this was where god wanted me, so I applied to a route with the most places I had never been. After the interview process and sharing my heart, our group got a message a couple months into fundraising. AIM had decided to change a couple countries. Puerto Rico changed to Columbia and Vietnam changed to Japan. When I was told, I was overwhelmed. Just more confirmation.
One reason I was searching for a career change was a feeling of discontentment with work. I felt that I was wasting my time with my job. What purpose did these last five years serve? Besides just making money? I was talking to a regular customer about fundraising for my trip. He told me he is the coordinator for a local golf course for the fundraising tournaments held there. He volunteered to help coordinate my tournament. There have been conversations with many regular customers and they have decided to support me on my journey.
I have seen enough to be confident that I am where God wants me. I am sure there will be plenty of additional awesome stories to come. I will be happy to share them as well.
Thank you again to all the friends and family who have supported me.
“I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, ‘You are my servant’; I have chosen you and have not rejected you. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:9, 10 NIV)
