When I invited my parents to PVT I also invited them to write a blog from the trip for me to share on here with you. Here is what my mom, Linda Reinhold wrote.
The following verse reverberated through my heart throughout PVT.
“I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. And I am sure of this, that he who began a work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” Philippians 1:3-6 (ESV)
April 23, 2014: It began at the airport in Bucharest, Romania, I saw the reality of the above verse enacted in the lives of the Racers! At the airport I saw the joy of parents, sons and daughters reunited after 7 ½ months of separation. On the 3 hour bus ride to Dragane?ti-Olt there was laughter in conversation among the reunited families, but my attention was caught by the interaction between a small group of racers as they laughed and teased each other. It was different than any interaction I have seen among young people stateside in years….
It started….. Speranta! “And I am sure of this, that he who began a work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
Each evening we had a time of Worship. We did WORSHIP! We all worshiped! One evening during Worship we had a time of sharing. Anyone could share what was on their hearts. Racers and parents opened their hearts, wide open for everyone to see. Tears flowed, the Spirit moved, there was laughter and tears and it grew…Speranta!
“ And I am sure of this, that he who began a work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
We ministered in and around Dragane?ti-Olt. We handed out New Testaments in another village, placing some in mail boxes… it rained. We handed some out on the street, speaking through our translator. Some walked away, some accepted the Bible and some ran up and asked for one…the rain stopped. We went into homes and we held a 25 Kids Club Saturday event for the Children at Biserica Speranta (Hope Church).
It grew…Speranta.. “ And I am sure of this, that he who began a work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
Sunday: Church…we sang, we worshiped, and there were testimonies and prayer. An English Evangelist prayed for America. Christians around the world are praying for America.
It grew…Speranta.. “ And I am sure of this, that he who began a work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
Bucharest: A Hostel, a three mile walk to a Mexican Restaurant with 2 other families… fun, laughter, delving questions… opening up wounds so they can be cleaned and heal. Yes, there will be scars but the healing has started!
SPERANTA!
HOPE!
