So I was feeling a little adventurous and itchy to get moving and I decided to rent a bike, here in Nepal. And it was everything I had hoped for and more!
At home I have Bella my bike and I love her. I love the feeling that you get jumping on the saddle and knowing the ride can take you anywhere. I’ve learned to respect the hills and the hard work I have to put in to climb them. Oh but the ride downhill, that my friend is the best feeling in the world! It makes me feel alive and a rush of adrenaline.
Cycling came to me at crazy season of my life. There was so much going on in my heart and riding became my escape. Riding along the trail became my prayer closet, the place where I would meet the Lord. There were so many moments that I felt the Lord as near as real as the breath in my lungs. After leaving home, I was craving it all over again.
I did some research and found a spot that would rent the bike and gear for a day. I met an Australian friend that gave me some direction on where to ride. Found a friend on the squad that would join me on this crazy adventure and we rode away.
We rode to our ministry and it was such a sweet nostalgic feeling. Well, we had to get to the traffic first, but other than that it was smooth sailing. We started to ride down a hill and I felt alive. I couldn’t stop myself from hollering and hooting all the way down. I was in awe that the Lord granted me this silly desire to ride a bike in Nepal and admire the mountains, cows sitting in the street and the Nepalese people.
But guess what? A friend gifted me a GoPro right before the race, so literally, take a ride with me 🙂
