Yesterday we left Brasov, Romania at 7:10pm and took an overnight train to Budapest, Hungary. It was my first time on a train so that was exciting! We arrived in Budapest at 8:15am. Most of the day was spent waiting, going over logistics and praying. Its the beginning of our ATL month. ATL stands for Ask the Lord. Alot of you might know it as listening prayer. Basically we wait and ask God where he wants us to go and/or what he wants us to do or how he wants us to pray. Things like that. He may reveal that through words, thoughts, pictures, verses or anything really. We needed to find lodging by the end of the day and so we prayed, listened and waited. I had a picture of a yellow building and a seafoam colored building. I wasn’t sure what that was, I thought I was making it up, but I chose to speak it out and just be confident in it.

We looked up local hostels and places and thought we would try to see if we could stay at YWAM Budapest. If that didn’t work out we’d stay at a different hostel. Since I’m a former YWAMer (I graduated from my Discipleship Training School in February 08 and went to the Lakeside,  Montana base) I thought it would be a great connection. My teammate Lauren and I set out with our directions to find YWAM. We left the rest of
our teammates at an intersection and headed off. . We found the street it was supposed to be located at but we couldn’t find it. We asked around at a local restaurant hoping maybe that some staff or students would have been there before or hopefully the staff would know where the base was. Luckily the waiter and one of the customers spoke English. They were very friendly but told us that they had never heard of YWAM. So Lauren and I headed back to our team. During all of this we got to see alot of Budapest. Including a bright seafoam building. That made me feel like we were on the right track and I felt like we needed to pray more. (Insider advice: Budapest is a beautiful city. You should go if you ever get the chance!)

So after a bit of meandering we made our way back to the rest of our teammates.  They had gone to search for the other hostel that we’d found online while Lauren and I were away and they couldn’t find it either. So it seemed like we had just spent most of our day trekking all over Budapest searching for places that didn’t seem to exist. So we sat on the street corner with our bags, prayed and waited on the Lord. It was late afternoon and we still didn’t have a place to stay. It was hard to find places because we were seven people on a very limited budget. Our team leader Tamica got the impression that we should sing and play some worship songs. So out came the guitar and away we went on a street corner in Budapest.
To be continued…
