One of my favorite nights was when we were in session with the kids and I was leading worship for them. They wanted to sing the song “I could sing of your love forever” but they didn’t want to sing with me at the start because they really like my voice and wanted to hear just me sing. (They made me feel like a rockstar all week.) They said they’d join in when they were ready. So away I went with my completely captured audience. I felt uncomfortable at first because it was a worship time, not a concert, but I went with it and decided to bless them. I closed my eyes and began to sing and play my guitar. Then i opened them and see all these adorable kids completely attentive and smiling up at me. But the best part came shortly after I got halfway through the song. They began to join me in worshipping the King and a few of the kids closed their eyes and got really into it. It was incredible and I felt so blessed to witness it. How beautiful it was to see little children worshipping their heavenly Father! I was honored to be there and felt like I had a glimpse of heaven in that moment. It was beautiful.
At the end of the week there was a fantastic talent show and it was a great time to be together with everyone, enjoy their gifts, entertain each other and laugh. I was a volunteer for one group and ended up getting shaving cream in the face along with two of my other teammates (the poor victim in the photo is my girl Stacy. Check out her blog
here). I had asked if I’d be getting wet or dirty and they said no. Afterwards, Zoe, one of the girls running this entry came up to me after and apologized profusely for what

happened and told me she was supposed to be the one to cream me but she just couldn’t do it cause she loved me so much. I just couldn’t be upset at that and thought it was cute. (But don’t any of you go getting any ideas!)
The end of the week came. We said our goodbyes, gave out many hugs and waved goodbye as the vans full of the kids and families we had come to love drove away. A church group from Northern Ireland came to help us take down camp, clean everything up and pack it away for winter. We did the for a few hours, then drove to Dublin for night. We got to sleep on mattresses left on the floor at Dublin Christian Mission and it was the best sleep I’ve had since I left home. It must have been an intense week! But it was so good and I’m so grateful for the relationships I was able to form with the kids, parents and staff. Maybe I’ll get to back there someday and see them! I would love that! But we’ll see what God has up his sleeve! This is only the beginning!
(Saying goodbye to Aoife [pronounced Eee-Fa] a staff member who I got to know. She is incredible and a great musician too!)
So this is the end of the Drimnagh Days four part series. I now leave you with a photo of our buddy Ivan in a crazy Irish/Scottish outfit, shamrock sunglasses, an orange wig and a kilt. Its the over-the-top stereotypical Irish garb and I love it. Ivan is one of the funniest, sweetest people I have ever met. He and his wife Jennifer worked in the kitchen all week preparing all of our meals. He’s wearing this outfit because he was the host of several games during the talent show. What I love about Ivan is that he seems just really sweet and unassuming but then he goes and does something like this that blows your mind and starts a riot. He made me feel really loved all week and was really encouraging. The kids are Bradley and Kaitlyn. Did I mention that they’re adorable?
Oh, and there’s a video below to summarize our week at DCM family camp! It was an amazing time. Enjoy!
