Follow up day! I couldn’t wait to go and see Andrew to bring him the Bible that April and I had bought for him. Once again he greeted us with smile and brought out some chairs for us to sit in. His joy was still so evident. We talked with him and asked how he’d been lately. He told us that before we prayed for him he used to have really bad chronic headaches and alot of pain in his right shoulder. He also would have terrible dreams and nightmares about dead people and dead things. He can’t remember the last time he had a good nights sleep. But ever since we prayed for him two days ago, he has had no headaches, no shoulder pain and his bad dreams are gone. He now sleeps soundly. He also told us that his desire for alcohol is completely gone. Not only has his soul been redeemed but his body as well! PRAISE GOD!
We figured this was a great time to give him his Bible.
We got Jane to tell him that we had a gift for him and we pulled out the Bible. His face lit up when he held it in his

hands and he couldn’t stop looking at it. I had written a little message inside the front cover that April and I signed and we got Jane to translate it for him.
We talked a little bit about community and how going to church is important for growth and its encouraging to be with other believers. The next day he showed up at church looking all nice in a blue, white and black striped shirt. I was playing guitar with the worship team up front and in between songs I waved at him and he waved back and smiled. I was so glad to see him there! He actually came to church! So many people say they will come but end up being no shows. But here he was clapping along to the music. I wondered how he felt. Lost? Unsure? Like he stood out cause he was new? Happy? Confident? I wondered if he knew the songs. He seemed to be enjoying himself and I can’t tell you how happy that made me.
During the service when there were Scripture references given, I saw him turning the pages of his new Bible to follow along. When left he wrapped his Bible in a hankey and Josephine told me it was because he didn’t want it to get dusty or dirty. She laughed adoringly and said it was because he loved his Bible so much that he didn’t want it to get dusty or dirty. I learned that day what a precious gift the Word of God is, especially to those who eagerly desire it. It is a beautiful, beautiful thing. I know without a shadow of a doubt that that book, that written word of God will change his life forever. He now has that source of truth to go back to for the rest of his life.
A few days later April and Grant went back to visit him. I had wanted to come but I went to bring a Bible to Deborah at the hospital. They told me that when they got to his house they saw him sitting in the shade with his Bible and was reading it. I was tickled pink to hear that. He’s really seeking God! This is awesome!!!!
As apprehensive as I was about door to door evangelism, it ended up being pretty amazing. And one of the coolest things is that if we didn’t do follow up, we would have never heard this testimony of how God had healed him and changed his life.
This man Andrew made the whole World Race worth it for me.
