Hello! Thanks for checking out my blog!
My name is Desiree Loeppky and I’ll give you a high five if you can say my last name right and a gold star if you can spell it without looking. I usually go by Dez just cause its fun and easier for people to remember. I’m 21 years old and by day I’m a sales associate at my dad’s furniture store. By night I guess you could call me a singer/songwriter. I love music like crazy, play a few of instruments and write lyrics and melodies. I’m on two worship teams as well and I just love it! I sing on one and play bass guitar on another. Its an honour and privilege to worship God. I can’t think of a better way to spend my time. I’m also involved in Forefront Ministries at my church which is a high school/young adults ministry. I lead a cell group for senior high girls as well as a mixed small group of Grade 10 guys and girls at the local Christian high school that I graduated from. I’m all about music and ministry in every shape it takes.

I’ve grown up near Winnipeg Manitoba Canada in a city called Steinbach. I’ve got two amazing parents who have always loved, encouraged and believed in me. They have done a fantastic job modeling hospitality, integrity and generosity and I can only hope to be like them one day. I’ve also got a “little” brother named Leighton who is ridiculously strong and does martial arts. He’s basically a ninja and I love him like crazy – even when he arm bars me and drops me to the floor in less than 2 seconds, apparently all in the name of love. I’ve also got a huge but sweet dog named Rocky. He’s a rottweiler/german shepherd that looks terrifying but is actually the biggest wuss and baby you will ever meet. But we still like to call him “The Beast”

I grew up riding horses and quads on our four acre yard a mile and a half out of town. It was the perfect combo: still in the country, but three minutes away from town. My mom loves to garden and my dad (who is a country man by heart) loves tractors. I spent my summers traveling with my family to different lakes and campgrounds in Canada and the States. We’d hook the camper up to the truck and the boat up to the camper and away we’d go! It was quite the set up. As I got older we gave up the 5th wheel in favor for a more permanent cabin and I spent my summers between water sports at the lake and counseling at Bible camps. In winters we’d head to the mountains to ski or snowboard. Its something we all picked up together a few years ago. I’ve had an incredible childhood and a great time growing up. I thank God for it often.
I accepted Christ at a very young age and never really looked back. In junior high I rededicated my life because I wanted to reaffirm my commitment to him now that I was older and understood much more. I was always a pretty good kid growing up, didn’t get into too much trouble, did well in school and was a busy body doing anything and everything all the time. This included, but was not limited to basketball and volleyball teams, music lessons (voice and guitar), chamber choirs, being on multiple worship teams, in a church cell group and to top it all off the President of my school in my senior year. Grade 12 was the year my life really changed. I learned about the Holy Spirit, how to hear God speak and have real relationship with Him. It was really powerful and I’ve never been the same.
In Fall 2007 I headed off to Lakeside Montana USA and did a Discipleship Training School (DTS) through an organization called Youth With A Mission (YWAM). I learned alot during the three month lecture phase and God began to give me a heart for missions and the nations of the earth. After lecture phase I went on outreach to Thailand and Burma for two months with my team. It was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. There’s a YWAM phrase that talks about being “ruined for the ordinary”. I’m excited to say I think that’s whats happened to me and I’m more than ok with that.
I love adventure and am more than excited to go on the World Race! I’m blessed to have this opportunity to minister around the world and to transform lives and be transformed myself. I just want to be Jesus’ hands and feet and can’t wait to see Him move and work in the nations!
Things I Love:
- Music! I play piano, acoustic and bass guitar. I also sing and write my own music. I’m actually working on recording an EP right now to raise funds for this trip! (Let me know if you want one!)
- I love my church and all the friends that come with it. Also, the girls in my cell are incredible!
- Superheroes, Transformers, Power Rangers and Ninja Turtles
- I’m excited to go to sleep every night because I dream ALOT and have some of the most amazing dreams and go on sweet adventures! They’re usually epic and involve travelling all over the world and/or any of the above listed superheroes and superpowers. Its a riot.
- Snowboarding – but I live in the prairies and have to drive 2 hours to get to anything remotely close to a speed bump. So I loooooove going to the mountains!
- I live for a good chai latte or white chocolate & peppermint steamer.
- I’m not gonna lie, I really enjoy watching UFC with my dad and brother.
- Fruit smoothies & bubble tea!
- Dying my hair crazy & bold colours. Like sweet blonde, dark brown, caramel or red…or a mixture of them all
- Playing old school Sega Genesis
- The world and all the beautiful places in it
- The Ocean
- Bright colours and sweet art
- Doodling and painting
- Reading a good book
- Driving in the rain while listening to sweet mellow music
