Let me begin this blog one day in advance, the morning of May 11, 2011.

Anticipation builds as chills ravage my skin. My breath like the exhaust of a car attests to the coolness of the mountain air. It is here I wait in darkness for the suns approach. The subtle sound of a gently strummed guitar litters the atmosphere as at last a ray of solar power graces the sky. The sun is rising; the light of the world is inevitably near. I find myself cold in this world, but my warmth is coming. The horizon glows a fantastic array of orange, yellow, blue, and purple indicating what is to come. Soon the fiery face of the sun shall peak over the mountaintop and gaze across the earth. Soul piercing eyes bring to light the intricacies of the heart seeking to give strong support to the blameless and upright. There is something different about today, in this moment different from many other sunrises; my horizon has never been more ready. There is fear and trembling, wonder and awe before the strongest sun on the planet. This is Africa! My skin yearns as it requires more than just vitamin D on this day, no a photosynthesis shall take place. Today the sun gives me life, and I shall have it abundantly. The sun is the key to life, the sun is life. Oh sun please reveal to us your face.

The tip of the sun proceeds to peer just over the mountain top and I think to myself, “My time is short. If I start running now shall I reach the sun before he rejoins the stars?” No time to waste we must run to the sun if we shall ever see his face. Oh what grace sun that you allow the stars to shine and take care of the moon. And with each rotation around the axis they slowly fade away as you outshine them all. This is the day you are so close I shall greet you with a holy kiss.

 Almost all the stars have now faded as the sun encroaches upon the clouds. Another sunrise gone by with the same results, only I was so close this time. Listen carefully, I have tried many a days in many a ways. Sometimes I believe I can swim to the sun as it ignites an ocean horizon in all of its glory. It perches itself just atop the calm morning waves as if you could swim into its core. I have yet to succeed in these quests, yet I am always left with the same feeling, “Take care of my moon son.” I suppose that is what we stars do; we make the moon aware he or she is reflecting the light of the sun. I remember that I was a moon once; that is before I knew I could be a star! Everything changed so quickly, the free and effortless decision to shine was immediate and apparent. It’s a gift, a free promotion to a community of galactic treasure; yea I tell you what a pleasure what a pleasure. Thus I am compelled to inform the moon for I know what it will mean to it to know the sun wants it to shine. Oh moon did you hear that you have universal riches awaiting?

As I seek to kiss his face, I am reminded I must hug the moon. Tell him he is not alone, you see for every moon there is a harmony of stars. The moon has no community it is unaware what little light it omits is at the mercy of the sun and stars. Although it has affects on the world; I mean we have high and low tides, strong and weak currents, the moons eternity is solitary darkness, or habitual fire, one can only speculate. In the realm of our Lord what is highly implausible occurs daily. Big bang after big bang transforms moon after moon into a luminous ball of light omitting plasma. I encourage you to reflect upon your days as a moon and celebrate what can be known as a cosmic bloom. Hug a moon today and shine like you have never shined before. The sun will be here soon, and he is strong, Oh he is strong;
This is Africa!

The day before this spectacle of a sunrise we had the honor of sharing light with several of the Lords precious moons. As we traveled from house to house through the rural mud hut residences of Kabimoi village a farming man’s family and several young boys took the quantum leap into stardom.

Throughout the course of our time here in Kenya people have been incredibly receptive to the gospel message and the Lord has moved. We are witnessing daily miracles, heart transformations! New creation, a spiritual birth, is their truly a greater wonder than this? We have been enabled by our Lord to encourage the community of saints here. We have lead church services and spoken In front of three schools totaling over 1,200 young men and women. Claim who God says you are is becoming a recurring theme at these gatherings and it has fired up the youth. We will be a part of a new church launching in Eldama Ravine on the 22nd of this month and are expecting wonderful things. As we begin spreading the message about service this Sunday I ask that you keep us in your prayers so that the people of this community will be as responsive as our village friends have. Blessings and remember to take care of the moon today saints.

“You light a lamp for me. The Lord, my God, lights up my darkness. In your strength I can crush an army; with my God I can scale any wall.”
