Last summer God really began to move in my life. He surrounded me with people whose hearts were on fire for more of him. God allowed us to feed off of each other’s passion and desire to go deeper and it resulted in tremendous growth in my relationship with him.
I first heard God calling me to the mission field while I was at a youth camp as a youth leader. I remember praying for purpose as I was getting ready to go off to a new college and move away from home. After praying I remember silencing my mind and heart and as I closed my eyes a verse flashed through my mind over and over. ~~ I see and remember almost everything through pictures, so I suppose naturally God speaks to me in this way ~~ The verse was Romans 13: 12. I did not know this verse or at that point even had ever read Romans.
“The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.”
So you’re probably saying to yourself “How is this verse a call to the mission field?”
Well let’s just say the Inventor knows his creations inside and out. God had already placed the call in my heart, but almost like a trigger word, I read this verse and immediately understood what he was saying. God knew I was not anywhere near ready for this calling yet, but he made me aware of it and that gave me a certain peace, so for the next 10 months that call hung around at the apex of my heart and God prepared me.
I heard about the Word Race in February and once I began reading more that flame inside of my heart ignited. I know this is a journey God has called me to and I understand I have a vast amount more to learn even before it begins.
