Earthy survival is subconsciously why we behave the way we do in this world. Our actions reflect our fear of death. Now let’s analyze an enemy in context. An enemy is someone who wrongs you because; you are either too weak or too strong when their survival is in the picture. For whatever reason you threaten them. This leads to the formation of an enemy. In the Bible there is mention of praying for those who persecute you. Often people do not ponder further into this notion.”If we pray maybe we will learn to love them”, people often think. This mindset means we too are concerned about our rate of survival. However, as we know, death is inescapable. So we can lay aside our fear of death and accept it as inevitable(there is a reason Jesus came to conquer death). So why are we to pray for our enemies if we do not fear the outcome? Here is what I have been able to formulate. Think about your enemy, now remove Satan and the forces of evil that roam the earth with him. What are we now left with? A friend. Someone who is just as human as us. So who are we truly afraid of? Satan. We fear Satan. We need to get mad at him not the person he is tempting, tormenting, and manipulating. Why do we need to pray for our enemies? Because they are not our enemies. They are prisoners of war. We pray because they, even if not saved, are still Gods creation. God still desires them. Know your enemy. Battle the right thing. Pray for those who persecute you.
