What would you do if you were drowning?
Would you thrash about aimlessly trying to keep you’re own head above water?
Would you attempt to float on your back and save yourself?
Would you call for help?
How about when your drowning in life? Do you remember to ask for help, to call out for Jesus?
Lately I have been struggling a lot with how much stuff (for lack of a better word) I have to do before the race, and how much other stuff I have to do outside of the race.
I’m in my last semester of college, I work, I volunteer… at more than one place, I’m involved in several organizations plus church, and somewhere in there is a social life… and now I have a great deal of fund raising to do on top of that.
Oftentimes I feel like I am drowning, not physically but emotionally, even spiritually.
I think my real issue is not that I can’t do it all because “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength”-Philippians 4:13. The issue is that I focus to much on the overwhelming fact of how much I have to do.
When stress is an issue the best solution I have found is:
1. Take a step back! Find a quiet, calm place to gather yourself. (recently I found these beautiful lilly gardens)
2. Take a breath! YOU CAN DO IT
and finally…
3. Remember that God has got this! Jesus once said ” I say these things so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have tribulation (trouble). But take heart; I have overcome the world.” -John 16:33 Remember that and let it fill you with calm.
So hang in there! God is the solid foundation on which we may stand and endure the troubling times that we face, because we all face troubling times!
And don’t forget to ask for help either because if you’re facing tribulation, chances are other people are too, or were in the past and will be able to sympathize.
Also, if all else fails pick up a good book or “the good book” lol pun… seriously though, “Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times. If one only remembers to turn on the light” so go turn your light on folks and choose to be happy, peaceful, and stress free, its worth it I promise!
