How do you connect with other people?

Do you remember to lean on others in times of crisis, or how about during everyday burdens?

This weekend I went on a retreat to a beautiful place out in the middle of nowhere Texas called HEB camp. I’ve been five or six time but the experience is always different, and its always life changing. This weekend was no exception.

As a christian I often feel the pressure to be perfect. Many of us do! We are often put on a pedestal by our peers, elders, families, and yes even sometimes fellow Christians.

Many believe that because of the simple fact that we are Christian means we will automatically know exactly how to behave at all times.

The problem with that is not only is that not true… consider grey areas folks, even the Bible taken out of context can be misleading. It can also be a great deal of pressure.

I’d like to tell you something I realized on the retreat this weekend… no one is perfect, and I mean no one. Except for Jesus himself, there is not a soul alive who has ever been anything but imperfect.

So stop believing the lies and letting the pressure define you. You are not perfect and that is ok! Just be you, that’s exactly who God made you to be.

Jesus died so that you could mess up and not receive one ounce of blame!

Does this mean we should purposefully do things to disobey the God who created us?…No

In Eph. 4:1-2, the bible states “walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in LOVE.”

This means that we should always strive to do as we are called and to lean on each other in times of need. No one will put you on a pedestal if you don’t allow them to.

Bringing yourself down off the pedestal will allow others to meet you on your level and speak to you about their imperfections too.

Simply remind others that you are human too, that we all make mistakes and you are no exception. Click in to your support systems and let others know when you have failed and need help. It is amazing what help you will find, if only you will ask!

Why do you think perfection is such a major struggle in our society? Have any of you ever struggled with perfection before? If so let me know, I’d love to discuss the topic further with you because it is something that weighs heavily on my heart.

P.S. stay tuned for how I became involved with The World Race, what its about, and why I chose the route I did. Its a good one… I promise!
