Time is flying by! It feels like we’ve been here for a week, but in reality we are wrapping up month two and only have one full week left in Thailand. Debrief was great too, for we had AC and a pool. It was nice to relax and recharge, but when we returned to our hostel I was so happy. I missed Mama’s (a lovely Thai lady that cooks us breakfast on week days) smile every morning. I missed dancing and singing up on the roof. I missed rooming with my whole team. Our first day back at Agape was AMAZING. We have made so many wonderful relationships with the little kids, the teens, and even the staff. It will be in my heart forever. Yesterday was a holiday here in Thailand, so the kids that weren’t already on break were out of school. After we finished moving furniture into the clinic, my sweet teammate Abby and I were talking under this pavillion when we heard what sounded like live drums. As we investigated further, we discovered that there was a whole music room with guitars, ukuleles, keyboards, and a microphone. We jammed out with some very talented kids until we had to go home.
Now, ministry hasn’t been all that and a bag of chips, I have definitely cried over a table that still had a lot more sanding to put in but, today was probably my favorite day of ministry we’ve had. It honestly might be the best day on the race I’ve had. We got off the song-thaew and walked around looking for something to do. We had already sanded an entire set of furniture and painted the clinic inside and out. Our ministry host came up to us and said we would be sorting scrap metal from old buildings on campus and putting it in the back of the truck so they could sell it to bring in more money for the orphanage. The boys that were out of school helped us, and it was a mix of first graders to 18-19 year olds. The best day at ministry consisted of sweating my butt off, moving big rusty scraps of metal onto a truck, having mini heart attacks when one of the littles would lose their balance while trying to get something off the top of the pile, laughing, dancing, playing, having crabs thrown at us from the rice fields just over the wall, and quite honestly living the life. I looked around me and was filled with so much joy. I’m so happy that God has placed me here, with this team, this ministry, and these people. I don’t want to leave, but we have one week of ministry left, then
we’re packing up and off to Malaysia. This has honestly been the best two months of my life. I am not excited to say goodbye to my sweet friends I’ve made and Thailand as a whole. I will definitely be a puddle of tears on our last day of ministry. I thank God everyday for allowing me to be a part of these people’s lives, and for my friends and family back home that have supported me going on this crazy, amazing journey. I’m in constant awe of His beauty and grace.
