I’m sure by now all of you know it’s national donut day, right??? Okay maybe not but now you know and you better never forget about this great day! I have a not so big confession to make. Donuts are my weakness & I probably eat them way more than I should (but really you can never have too many donuts). I really love almost any kind of donut but I always get a chocolate frosted donut with sprinkles on it from Cub Foods. BEST DONUT EVER.

So where am I going with all this donut talk? Well each donut I get costs $0.89. My mission trip costs $12,487. I could buy one of my favorite donuts EVER, everyday for 38 YEARS with that kind of money. Doesn’t that sound awesome (and a little sickening)??? Only one problem- eating a donut everyday for 38 years doesn’t do me or anyone else around me any good.

Instead with that $12487 my team and I will be teaching others about our God who offers an eternity of hope and joy. With the $12487 I will be doing my best to help others around the world in whatever way I can. $12487 will allow me to travel to Africa, Asia and Central America for 9 months to build friendships with the locals, teach English to little children, volunteer in hospitals, and help out in orphanages around the world. This trip is not about me but about God and I am so excited to see how He works through my team on this trip. When I tell people about this mission trip I’m going on the most common response from people is “you will come back a totally different person” and I completely believe that to be true. I will have the opportunity to experience a completely different style of life & be offered different perspectives on life while helping others. And that is SO so soooo much better than eating a donut everyday for 38 years.

I’m sure most of you can imagine how intimidated I was when I found out the cost of this mission trip was $12,487. In fact, the price was so intimidating to me that it almost kept me from committing to this trip even though I knew God was calling me to it.  God is bigger than any of our worries and He has this seemingly big fundraising task under control. Some people are called to go, some people are called to give.
