“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”
-Matthew 7:7-8
This is hands down one of my favorite Bible verses. Doesn’t it just bring so much comforter to your heart? I love knowing that my Father wants to hear from me. One of the reasons I fell in love with this Bible verse is because it helped me develop a better relationship with him through prayer. Growing up I would always close my eyes and go through the motion. I mean as long as you close your eyes while someone is praying…that counts right? Ha Ha.
So, throughout my life I have always had vivid dreams. Some dreams I knew didn’t mean much, but there have been many that I would wake up and knew with all my heart it meant something. I believe God tries to talk to us all the time. It just takes some (like myself) to be asleep to hear him sometimes. One night, I had woke up from a very intense dream. Luckily my mother had just bought me a Christian dream book to help me better interpret what the Lord was trying to tell me. Before I had began looking into the definitions of certain aspects of my dream, I ran across the verse Matthew 7:7-8. Ask.Seek.Knock. After reading it I kind of just sat there for a second. Hmmm ask, seek, knock, it’s that simple. I began thinking how easy it really could be to talk with the Lord. I could talk to him like I was talking to my on earth father. So I said ok Lord..i’m asking, im seeking, and trying to find the door to knock. I began telling the Lord things I was having trouble with; even things I wouldn’t tell my best friend. Wouldn’t ya know…it was just that simple and I felt a million times better and a million times closer to God.
Challenge: One thing I like to do is challenge you. This may seem funny to some but it has made my faith in him so much stronger. When I come to God for things I like to write it on sheets of paper. I begin by writing the verse Matthew 7 at the top of the page, then I simply write down what I’m asking and seeking for. I then tack it on the walls of my room. Now keep in mind God does have a plan for us; So, he may not answer these requests like we think, but he will answer. So, as soon as I have received an answer on my talks with God I take them down and show people. Like wow look I wrote this down a month ago…and look God did it.
So, I challenge you. Go talk to God like he’s your best friend. Write down what you’re asking of him and step out in faith by taping it on your wall for people to see! Because GOD IS THERE!!
