Drum roll please!…… I’m sure you’re all dying to know all about each teams ministry within my squad. So here’s the details;) There’s 6 teams within my squad and we each have our own separate ministries.

Testify (that would be my team):

We have ministry Mon-Fri. for 8 hours each day. We go to two different ministries each day. The first is a daycare funded by the government. It’s about a 15 minute ride there. We plan activities for the kids, play with them, and feed the babies. Our second ministry is at a school in the slums where we do whatever is needed. So far that’s consisted of scrubbing walls, repainting/scrubbing stones+cinder blocks, moving complete classrooms, water proofing boxes, painting crosswalks and playing with the kids. All of these kids come from high risk families.

Sisters:

Their ministry is four hours long with an hour and half drive. They work with Nicaragua refugees. It’s a day program for women, children, and teens. It actually just opened this past week and there’s no translators! They are in charge of coming up with activities and bible studies.

Talitha Koum:

They have ministry for 8 hrs each day. Their ministry is at a private school and life center. The life center was started after the school by the same man for kids who couldn’t afford to go to the private school in the slums. This team is split in half! Four going to the school to help teach, clean and watch the kids and four going to the life center to cook meals, clean, and also play with the kids.

Mosaic:

Works at an after school program called Lifting Hands. The goal behind it is to end the cycle of poverty by giving the kids skills. This team works by helping resell clothes at the thrift store they have, redoing the roof on the building, playing soccer with the kids and board games. They have ministry for three hours with a 45 minute drive there.

Salt and Light:

They work at a place that offers a feeding program for the kids. They help feed the kids lunch along with teaching them math and English. The girls on this team aren’t aloud to leave the center without protection of some sort. The location of their ministry is right in the midst of the slums. They have ministry for five hours.

Relentless:

This is our one and only team of boys on our squad. They work at a place called Project Abraham. It’s a church that provides daycare, job classes, and houses for single mothers. They have ministry for seven hours. They’ve painted cribs, sweat drains, scrubbed the edging rocks, helped with construction of the homes for the single mothers, play with kids, and do odd jobs.

As you can see we all have vastly different roles within the squad. Each squad serving in different ways for the country of Costa Rica. Week one of having full days of ministry down!
