“Are we really supposed to do this?”

These whispers have flitted through my mind much more recently.

“$36,000 is a lot to ask people for. You aren’t really going to make it, that’s too big of a goal.”

There is some truth in that. It IS alot to ask of people. But something so amazing Papa has been showing me throughout this fundraising and pre-race process is that we aren’t asking our family, friends, and supporters for anything.

We are asking GOD.

God has called us on this amazing journey not for our glory or benefit, but for HIS. That’s why anyone is called to the World Race. The ultimate goal is to glorify God and share Him to the uttermost ends of the earth.

And YOU can be a part of that in big ways. No ways are small.

“You don’t deserve their help. Look at all the wrong you have done.”

Ah, another lie with some truth. Yes, I have done some HORRIBLE things. But that’s the precious news we are spreading: JESUS can wash away all of our wrongs. Our mistakes. And He wants and can do that for anyone.

Something that Papa has really been hitting me with recently is a little nugget from Dr. Seuss.

“A person is a person, no matter how small.”
I take this to mean that the smallest, most innocent people, or the biggest, baddest, roughest of them all are really just people in need of a soul-saving God.

And it’s not me, it’s not Derek, it’s not our marriage that will change the world. But it’s the POWER, the Spirit of the One who breathed the stars into existence who will change the lives of those we work with on the race.

And that’s not the only time we are called to impact like that.

We are all, as children of Christ, called to cause a ripple in our communities. We are called to tell the good news of Christ. We are called to share the abundant life we have graciously been given by the Savior with those who are lost, just like we once were.

And we are humbly asking you, as our family in Christ, to consider doing that through us; supporting us as we begin to fully dedicate our lives for such a time as this.

Be kind, have grace, and God bless.
