Psalm 23:1-3a

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.[a]
    He restores my soul.

Rest. It’s a word I’m (Bethany) not familiar with, my husband can tell you. And recently Papa has really impressed on me that’s it’s so, so important.

As we prepare for the World Race, a huge part of the pre-race phase is to build a support team. This means reaching out to build as big of a foundation here in states to “hold the ropes” while we serve for 11 months. This includes financial supporters, prayer warriors, and other key roles in this journey.

Because (side note) this journey, this mission, is not just about me and Derek. It’s about the body of Christ coming together to serve together.

Back on track. We have a huge goal: a little more than $37,000. That’s so much bigger than Derek and I can even begin to imagine raising on our own.

But that’s the point. We aren’t supposed to. And the church isn’t supposed to. It’s God. The Provider. In His weakness, it is stronger than we ever can be on our own.

Woah. His worst is still better than my best? Then why in the world do I ever worry? Why do I ever stress?

Then this verse hit me like a ton of bricks.

I’ve been working so much, past my bedtime, to prepare for this phase of the pre-race. I’ve been stressing out about the huge goal we have, and doubt has been creeping around the edges of my mind.

But look! I don’t have to! Yes, I must work and do my part, and commit to this, and so does Derek. But working to the point of exhaustion isn’t healthy! Not just physically, but spiritually.

Our enemy sneaks around, and finds us in our weakness. He doesn’t blow through the door with a full on assault, he plays the long game.

And my dear brothers and sisters, so must we.

I hope this gives you some encouragement, and I pray this finds you well. We just wanted to update you with where we are at with Papa, and where He is taking us on this amazing race.

If you want to join us in our journey in any way, please reach out! We would love to share more of our heart and where God is leading us.

Blessings.
