I walked in to a coffee shop to do a little bit of work. I sat down on a couch, after getting my coffee. I opened my computer to write my “About Me” section for my blog. I was on the part about my nana.
Shortly after, this little girl walks up to me and says, “Hi my name is Journey.” I laughed and told her my name. She jumped right up on the couch and just started talking to me. At first all I thought was were is this little girls parents. As soon as that went across my brain the little girls mother walked up and said Journey leave him alone. I laughed again and said it was fine. Then I chatted a little bit with the girl’s mother.
I noticed that the mother’s lanyard said Casper Classical Academy. I found out that she was an art teacher there. After talking to the girl’s mother she felt a little more comfortable with her daughter just hanging out on the couch with me.
I can’t express how awesome God is through everything. This little girl had no fears of anything (though talking to strangers can be a little scary sometimes) I learned a great deal from her. Even though I might be extraverted, unless I’m “doing ministry”, I don’t go up to people all the time and start talking with them.
No matter who the person is, I need to be less focused on why I’m there, and more focus on letting Christ shine through me. Maybe its doesn’t look like going up to someone and starting a conversation with them, but maybe it is. Even if I don’t share The Gospel the way we think we should be, by telling them about Jesus, we can choose to love on the person just by talking to them, and show interest in the person. That is The Gospel.
We continued to share about our Nana’s. I showed her where my Nana lived on a map, and then she pointed to her nana across the room.
