Hello from Malaysia!

We are happy to say that we have arrived safely after a long day of travel!

This month I am SUPER EXCITED about our ministry!  We have the opportunity of serving by assisting in a Kindergarten school, teaching English, and facilitating Character Development classes.

The children that attend the Kindergarten School are full of energy!  They love to sing, play, practice writing their letters, say the alphabet, and practice their shapes and numbers.  Our contacts here in Malaysia just began the school three months ago to help bring in an income for their family.

English Classes occur every Tuesday and Wednesday nights.  We are teaching verb tenses to the students.  We put them to work by taking notes!  They are enjoying working with partners to practice their English.  We like to end our lesson with playing “Hangman” using the vocabulary words in the proper tense.  Teaching at a school where my students were primarily English Language Learners for four years is coming in handy on the World Race!

I am really enjoying planning with my new teammate, Amanda Williams!  She just finished her student teaching and graduated in May with a degree in Mathematics.  The enthusiasm she brings to the classroom is contagious!

Please pray for:

1. Our contacts: a very hard working family that has been such a blessing to us already!  Please pray that the Lord will teach us to love deeper and challenge us to be more generous with our time, money, and love for others.

2. Our squad: team changes occurred at the end of last month, and we are all adjusting to new personalities and rhythms.

3. Health: I, Christina, have been sick 2 days since being here in Malaysia so far.  Diarrhea and throwing up is no fun, and prayers for health would be much appreciated! Prayers for energy are also needed, as we are not getting the full nutrition our bodies need.  We are learning to depend on His daily bread!

4. Financial Support:  We only have $1,767.10 left that we need for Adventures in Missions by January 1, 2013.  We are praying and trusting the Lord to provide that full amount!  We are also praying for people who will partner with us and help support us in our personal account to help offset the costs of all of our gear, plane ticket to and from Launch, and miscellaneous snacks and other items we need while we are currently on the field.

5. Derek's Aunt Sharon was diagnosed with Breast Cancer shortly after we left for the Race.  She is finishing up chemotherapy and will begin radiation treatments soon.  Derek's Grandma Dorothy was just diagnosed with colon cancer, and will be having surgery the first weekend in November.  Derek's Oma is also having health issues with her eye, hand and heart.  Please pray for their health.

We appreciate your faithfulness in reading our blog and your prayers for us!  Please contact us with any prayer requests you have at our personal email addresses:
