“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in…” Matthew 25:35
“If you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday.” Isaiah 58:10
Scripture is filled with verses speaking about God’s heart for the poor. One way to share His love is by feeding those who are hungry.
Feeding the hungry can take on many different forms.
You could get together with a group of friends on a Saturday morning and make burritos to bring to the homeless.
You could volunteer your time at a Soup Kitchen or Food Pantry.
You could invite the hungry into your home for a meal.
Then Jesus said to his host, "When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous." Luke 14:12-14
This month, we are helping feed the poor by tracing, cutting, and pasting. Let me explain.

The Dream Project is an important part of The Ruth Center, the organization we are partnering with this month in Bangkok, Thailand. The Dream Project creates a sustainable income for the “Grandmas” in the slums of Bangkok.
These Grandmas sew words like “hope,” “dream,” “rejoice,” “faith,” and “love” onto small pieces of fabric. The fabric is made into bags, t-shirts, keychains, and small change purses.

Every Monday the Grandmas come to The Ruth Center and bring their stack of cloths they have sewn throughout the week. In return, they get paid money to help them purchase food and pay for their rent.
This month we have spent much time assisting Koi, who is the brains of The Dream Project. She is so dedicated to furthering this business to bring in even more income for the Grandmas. The Ruth Center is looking to partner with a store in the U.S. that has items from all over the world that are made by women who are striving to make money in an honorable way.

As we trace, cut, and paste, I have been thinking of the many different ways one could go about feeding the hungry. I want to open this topic up for discussion. I invite you to share your creative ideas by making a “comment” on ways to feed the hungry. I am eager to hear not just your ideas, but stories of how you put these ideas into action.

These Grandmas are here to get paid every Monday at 9:00 am!

This Grandma helps care for her two grandchildren while her daughter works. One child is a few months old, and the other, age 8, has down syndrome.

Many lives are touched by The Ruth Center!
