I was asked to write a blog about how GOD called me to this mission trip…. the World Race (WR). This is my story…
I started going down to Mexico (Rocky Point) in 2003 and continued to go monthly until 2008. We would take groups down to help those that lived in poverty (physically & spiritually). We would help by distributing food, building houses, building relationships, hosting Vacation Bible School, helping the local spanish church, having outreach events, etc.
On one of those many trips to Mexico, I met a sister in CHRIST and she shared with me that she was leaving in a couple of weeks to do missionary work with a Christian organization called the “World Race”. And that she was leaving for 11 months going to 11 different countries to serve and share the love of our Lord JESUS CHRIST. I remember the excitement that radiated out of her! So after returning home from this particular Mexico trip, I googled the World Race and checked it out. I could see why my sister in CHRIST was so excited! As a result, within my own heart & spirit there was building a sense of excitement as well!!The more I thought and prayed about it, the more I realized that I could not go on the WR at this time because of my financial debt, working restrictions and living situation. So, the anticipation and the excitement slowly died within me leaving the idea merely a thought that was eventually smothered out.
Only to be resurfaced and revived years later by GOD through another sister in CHRIST, Chelsea Wonders . She invited me to a fundraiser dinner to help her raise money to go on the WR in October. After talking to her about her trip, I went home that night and revisited the WR website. For the next week or so, I was so intrigued with the WR that I could not stop thinking and praying about it! As I prayed and talked to GOD about going on the WR trip, I basically decided to go ahead and apply. Thinking that GOD would either close the door or continue to open the doors for me to go on this trip. The end result, I got accepted and now am preparing to leave for the July 2010 WR. The once smothered and dead sense of excitement of years ago was now resurfaced and revived with GOD’s faithfulness, perfect timing, confirmation, perfect plan and renewed excitement!!
