Whew.. Everything between Durban, and the Okavango Delta has been a daze. As I’m currently typing, we are traveling 18 hours back to the Gabarone, Botswana to meet the squad and prep for departure to Madagascar-Month 3. Before I give you a glimpse of month 2, let’s take it back a notch to debrief. A few weeks ago, as a squad we met up with our leadership team from the states in Durban, Za for a time of refreshment and teaching to end the completion of our first month. At debrief, our team, Warriors of Peace received devastating news: a fellow sister decided to end her time on the race, and return back to the US. We were given no warning just a final decision on her part to leave for something else. As individuals, we coped the best we could and quickly moved from an array of emotions to an extension of grace, peace and blessing toward Serena’s departure. She inevitably changed the dynamics of Team WOP because losing another teammate wasn’t an option. The race isn’t glamorous nor an easy feat; there are many days I miss civilization. Last month, it was a sense of independency I missed, and at this moment it’s a warm shower, my comfy bed, MoMo (the good ole faithful car),healthy greens, and air conditioning; the heat is brutal. Everyday I have two options; challenge the westernize culture or give in to it. It’s a constant battle, but it’s also a huge encouragement to know I’m not alone; the Lord is and will be my only source of strength throughout the race and the remainder of my life. Keep Team WOP in your prayers, as we move on to Madagascar. Hugs & Kisses
