This is my “Cool People” blog series. I have decided to dedicate a blog for each person on my squad.
Introducing DAINA NORUSIS – as in – Daina-saur
This beautiful lady is INSANELY difficult to wrap up in a blog description. This tall, highly dedicated Lithuanian is probably the one on the squad who is full of the most surprises; however, it is silly to be surprised by her anymore. Let me explain. Daina was on the same small team as me for the first three months. Our team started to realize that this women is a flipn walking walmart. You ask for a match, she brought it. You ask for a library, she has it. You ask for medicine, she has it. You ask for a pet, I am sure she brought one.
If you want to meet someone who has done almost anything random, please meet Daina. Just when I thought that I couldn’t stump her in life experience she gets me again. Like the time I was talking about wanting to Tornado Chase. I get a “Oh yeah, it’s really fun. I spent a few weeks doing that with professional people.” YES. YOU WOULD DAINA!!!”
(Daina has storm chased before but has never truly eaten a salad till the World Race! I know. She is so strange)
This girl is a walking encyclopedia. She knows more random facts about things I didn’t even know there should be facts about. She has SO much to say and so many random things that she has done, that it is known throughout the entire squad to say. “YES!!! YOU WOULD DAINA.”
And she will do anything really. Like the time Caitlin told her she would rock a fohawk; therefor, with little hesitation, she decided to rock the fohawk starting in Hungary. (Please witness in above picture)
One of the most amazing things about Daina is that she gives and gives and gives. She always makes sure everyone else is taken care of before herself. She is so encouraging and commits when she decides to commit. She writes love notes to everyone on the squad and words of encouragement flow out of her in words and in her notes.
Oh YES! And DAINA is a preacher kinda girl. She sure speaks the word out in a big group and doesn’t fluff it at all. GET IT girl.
AND she laughs a lot. Also one of the best photographers and dedicated journal writers I know. SHE writes A LOT!
FAVORITE DAINA MOMENT: Probably every time I see her for the first time in a few days. It’s the best hug ever. And probably the time I spent 3 hours talking and listening to her in a tent in Ireland.
