-You take your shoes off before you enter into a house, the only time you wear shoes is if you have house shoes OR you are going to the bathroom – which also has it’s own set of shoes. You even take your shoes off to enter the church; and since most people wear sandals we go into church barefoot! I love it!!

-Men carry purses and almost never put them down- even while playing instruments, laying bricks or sitting down.
-At church there is pseudo segregated seating
-For a three year old’s birthday party you sing hymns, have a sermon, collect some sort of offering, everyone eats dinner and then the children eat cake.
-Hairdye in this country doesn’t set the same way it does in the states
THey are not easily frustrated, even while working on a brick wall that falls down!
-Even though you don’t wear your shoes inside, you still sit on mats that you roll out every time you want to sit down. Most people don’t own tables, you sit on the floor to eat.Like these ones:

-They TRUELY love to serve! (As evident by the following tidbits)

When there is nothing to do…..We SERVE you!!
– They ask us to help with construction: For the 5 of us that show up they ask us to move one stack of bricks. After which they serve us tea while we watch them to continue to work on building the wall.

-There is a wedding in town and they wanted us to cut up vegetables. However, when we arrived at the house, family and friends were all there AND they have no work for us to do. SOOOOO, they bring us snaks and soda to drink while everyone else is just sitting around. After 20 minutes we left and they invited us back later to eat dinner with them (the dinner that we were supposed to help cook)

-They ask us to clean the church for children’s camp. When we arrive they have already moved all the benches. We help them sweep half the church and mop half the church and then they bring us soda and tell us to start the juice break. While we pour ourselves soda the 6 men continue to put a banner up.

-They have a children’s camp and invite us to come. THey ask us to sit and just be with the children while they run everything. Then when it’s lunch time they insist on serving us our food. They won’t even let us do the dishes.
