So, I have decided that the thing I miss most from the United States right now is the washing machine!! What’s sad is knowing right now is the closest that I will have to an american washing machine for the next 11 months (most likely). Here it goes. Here is the machine:
Now I wish I had taken pictures of me doing each step but please visualize along with me.
Step 1: Connect the hose to the small nozzle on the upper left corner.
Step 2: Walk down the side of the house and turn on the water
Step 3: Put your detergent and clothes in the compartment open on the left
Step 4: When the water is nearing the top of the clothes, walk down the side of the house and turn it off
Step 5: Turn the dial (on the far left) to the 15 mark. This will cause the clothes to start spinning.
Step 6: After 15 minutes turn the middle dial from “wash” to “drain”. All the water will now run out the bottom of the machine (on your feet) and it’s black nasty water.
Step 7: After the water is drained out – make sure to turn the dial from “drain” back to “wash”
Step 8: Repeat Step 2. Use a little less water than before then turn the water off again.
Step 9: Repeat Step 5 – this will now rinse the clothes
Step 10: After 15 minutes come back to the machine and get ready to use your spin cycle.
Step 11: Open the compartment on the left
Step 12: Take out the articles of clothing and ring them out by hand. Place them in the left spin compartment.
Step 13: Close both lids and turn the knob on the far left to 5-this whips the clothes around.
Step 14: When it is done spinning (5 min) take the clothes out
Step 15: Hang them to dry on the lines below
Step 16: Repeat Steps 11-15 until all clothes are hung
*Repeat all steps until all clothes are clean and hung*
And yes, i realize this was a bit excessive, but I’m okay with that 🙂
