First you hope that you have a lot of water; like the lower part of this basin needs to be full. If it is then you can do laundry on that day.

Step 1: Using a gallon for a scoop fill a plastic barrel half full with water.
Step 2: Add the detergent and the clothes.

Step 3: Stir the clothes up in the barrel to make sure the soap gets on everything
Step 4: Pull out an article of clothing. If it is really dirty, grab the scrub brush and scrub it on the flat surface of the basin until it is clean.
Step 5: Fill the scoop up with water and pour it on to the article of clothing.
Step 6: Squeeze out the water and the soap.
Step 7: Repeat steps 5 & 6 until you think all the soap is out, and then do it one more time
Step 8: Repeat Steps 4-7 until all clothes are clean.
Step 9: Hang to dry on a clothes line.
Step 10: Though optional, very important – Pray that it does not rain 🙂

Additional Information:

It rains for at least one hour every other day; and that’s just during the dry season 🙂 Which means it can take up to three days for your clothes to dry and they aren’t likely to smell clean!

You should probably plan on needing an hour to complete a medium sized “american” load, if they are not really dirty.

Happy Washings!
