This is actually a tricky month to write about laundry for two reasons. After April 12th we had no water to do laundry with at our ministry site. Also, we had the option to put our laundry in a bag and Thelma, our wonderful cleaning lady, would take your laundry and wash it for you! However, the first few times I did my laundry by myself just to be able to write a blog 🙂 Although, I’m pretty sure that mine and Thelma’s steps are much different – she gets clothes cleaner than anyone I have ever met in my life!!

Do not be deceived by the large white machine that appears to be a washing machine because it does not work

step 1: Fill up the red bucket with water, add detergent and your clothes.

Step 2: swirl the clothes around and let them soak for however long you want
Step 3: Pull an article of clothing out and place it on one of the ridged cement slabs.

Step 4: Using the scrubber, scrub the article of clothing: pay special attention to pits (it is ridiculously hot here, everyone is sweating, they just need more love this month)
Step 5: Use one of the smaller buckets to pour water on to the scrubbed article of clothing and begin the rinsing process (this is always my least favorite part thus far)
Step 6: After thoroughly ringing out the article of clothing hang it on the line to dry – they even have clothes pins here
Step 6: repeat until all desired clothes are clean

The great news about the heat is that the clothes dry very quickly, even when the sun is not up!!!
