I found  computer it worked on 🙂

With my computer being down this month I was not typing out blogs near as often as I usually do. Each week in Kachibora looked very similar. Mondays and Tuesdays in the mornings we went out into the community and did door to door evangelism. Wednesdays we had Bible Study in the evening. Thursday mornings we met with a group of addicts. Fridays varied. Saturday afternoons we held children’s ministry. Sunday mornings was church and bible study.

It was very interesting to meet the people in the community while we went from door to door. There were some very powerful prayer sessions that we were able to have with the people we met. One day while I was out with Lamar, Hailey and Erin we walked into this lady’s house who said she was on our way out but then proceeded to make us hot chocolate. After another woman walked in Lamar spoke up and asked which of the woman had pain in their body because God told him someone in the room was in pain. The lady who lived in the house said it was her. As we began to talk she shared about her life and some emotional pain that she was harboring. Her entire body ached especially her joints. When we prayed over her Hailey felt heat in her hands that were placed on the woman. After we finished praying the lady had a new smile on her face, her house felt lighter and she stood up, bent her knees and all her pain was gone. It’s one of my favorite stories from house visits this month!

The Bible Studies were held at the church, mainly for the leaders of the church. It was awesome to be able to stand up and teach – I gave 3 or so messages. Though it was a little akward because only 4 to 6 locals showed up.

Thursday mornings with the addicts were always interesting. The pastor has a HUGE heart and desire to help those who are struggling with addictions. They come on Thursdays for encouragement, bible studies, free shirts and a free meal. Sometimes we were able to share a word with them, sometimes the pastor ran the whole meeting, sometimes the people didn’t show up until right before lunch and sometimes we just sat there and looked at them because we had no translator. You just never knew what you were going to get on Thursday mornings.

Towards the end of the trip we were able to visit the schools of the pastor’s children. It was awesome to be able to go and talk about Jesus in the school. After we gave a message we allowed the children to ask question about America. We had questions like: Are there co-ed schools in the United States? Do blacks and whites go to school together? Can I get into University with a grade of D+? Do white guys like black girls? Can we study gospel? Based on your appearance you look like you can sing, will you sing us a song? And one of my favorites was Can we shake your hands because we admire your skin?

Probably the largest part of our ministry were the children. Even when they did not have children’s ministry on Saturday afternoons with about 120 children, they were in our yard and we were playing with them. We did our best to leave them with something substantial for their relationship with Jesus. I have an entire blog written specifically about the children and as soon as I can get it off of my computer I will post it.

That about sums up the work that we did in Kachibora, Kenya!
