 While the day care is amazing this was not the original intent for Inca Link Ministries. However, when they proposed their original idea to the government of Trujillo the government was hesitant to allow Inca Link to pursue the proposal. So the government told them to start with a daycare. Now that the day care is going well the government is allowing them to pursue their original proposal. I don’t remember exactly when the ground broke for construction but now the actual building for the children home is built and 90% ready for the children to arrive! The government is in charge of placing children in the home, and many of the children who are already attending the day care will be candidates for the children home. To make matters more confusing 🙂 some of the children who are placed in the children home will be available for local/in country adoption. A child is eligible for international adoption only if they have a disability or are special needs, which includes cleft lips. To support a child who lives at the children home for one month will cost about $230; which provides education, food, staff pay, activities, trips, clothes, and everything that the child needs to not only survive but also thrive!

 This will be the cafeteria where they will eat their meals 🙂

The building in the back will be a home for missionaries and groups to stay while they are working with the children. The poles in the foreground will eventually be a vocational center where the children can learn trades to earn money when they grow up.

While we stay here this is our dinning room; however I believe it will be the children’s play room/living room area.

Pay no attention to the mess that the 5 of us have created in this room; but this is going to be the bedrooms for the children! Each bedroom has a bathroom with two flushing toilets and running water shower attached to it. How awesome for children who have had next to nothing to be able to have their own comfortable bed AND running warm water! 
 

This is the kitchen, complete with stove and stove top AND a sink with running water! I’m not sure ho often it will be used as the children will have a cafeteria to eat in as well. There is also a refrigerator and freezer in the storage closet.
 

As it is set up now, the house is ready to house 24 children (12 boys and 12 girls) and 2 single house parents (or 2 married couples). As they receive more money their desire is to build two more houses for the children to live in; which would allow them to house a total of 72 children. That’s 72 children who won’t have to sleep in garbage, 72 children who will have a chance at a better life, 72 children who will be able to be raised in a healthy home environment!!!

It has been such a privilege to make bricks for the outside perimeter of the property and an honor to live at the children’s home while they finish preparing it for the children. The two teams that have been staying here have the privilege to pray into the physical building and to set the spiritual environment for this entire campus! How beautiful 🙂
 
These are not even all the bricks. By the end of the three weeks I believe we helped make 3,000 bricks! They still need to make a lot more; but hey, every little bit helps!
