Back to the Airport!

After being in Africa for 3 months and traveling by crammed,
smelly, sticky busses the thought of an airport is practically heavenly….little
did we know that we were beginning three straight days of travel πŸ˜€

September 24th

10:45am – meet in the lobby of the Jambo Inn (Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania) to take small busses to
the airport

11am – On our way to the smallest International Airport!!

2:30pm – We begin to board the plane for Niarobi, Kenya.

4pm – land in Niarobi for a 6.5 hour layover. The airport
has 1 restaurant, 10-ish little shops (though they are all the same), no wi-fi,
$1 per minute to use a computer and no cushions on the chairs.

11pm – Take off for Bangok! The plane was decent but my TV
seemed to be possessed and changed channels on it’s own, even if it wasn’t
weird my headphones didn’t work and my IPod headphones broke as well. At least
the food was decent and I got to sleep.

September 25th

8am (Africa time)- We landed in Bangkok which was Noon local time. We had to
go through health control (I used my Yellow Fever Card for the FIRST time this
year!!) and customs – It took some time.

2:30pm (On to local time now) – we left the airport

3pm – Arrived at the WYAM base. Before arriving we thought
that we would be staying the night in Bangkok
so that we could relax, east some good food and sleep. However, upon arriving
we are told that we are leaving in a few hours πŸ˜€

4pm – The Boys leave for manistry (all the men on the squad
are going to Western Thailand to have time
with JUST the men). We had time to grab a quick bite and water!! It’s a great
country when $8 will buy 4 plates of food, a smoothie, 2 BIG bottles of water
and a coke!!

5pm – Leave the WYAM base to head to bus station: Rosa,
Hailey & myself and Elizabeth, Shida, Bekah, Renee & Kelsy and our
translator! What a groovy team for the month

7:30pm– the first shift of girls leave – we are taking three
separate busses and thus are slit (5-2-2).

7:40pm – Mine and Hailey’s bus leaves it is super comfy! Just
like we remembered from last time. We get a small piece of fried chicken,
chocolate milk, water, coffee, and soda! There were touch screen tv’s at every
seat, the only problem is that all the movies and music are in Thai.
Luckily, I’ seen Shrek enough times to understand what was going on even though
it was in Thai πŸ˜€

September 26th

6:30am – Completely exhausted we arrive at Chaing Rai’s bus
station

7:30am – All three busses have arrived and our contact shows
up with his pick up truck to dirve us to the house. The view is absolutely
breath taking, windy, lots of turns and super awesome.

8:45am – we finally arrive ar our contacts house – which is
amzing and kind of like a tree house πŸ˜€

After inhaling some food, we went up to our rooms and napped
until lunch! I’m soooooooooooooooooooooooo glad to be back in Thailand πŸ˜€

We are near the northern most black dot on the map below πŸ™‚ In the Chiang Rai province: In a city called Raummit. We are living with the Karen Hill Tribe and there is an elephant farm 500 Km down the road ;-D
