I know it’s kind of crazy to already be giving advice to future racers and I haven’t even launched on my own race yet. I’ve had a few things on my mind and this is good advice not only for racers, but for everyone!
It’s been really easy to notice that a lot of racers, myself included, have been trying to get in all of our favorite coffee drinks, food stops, hangout spots, whatever it is, one last time before we leave! And I get that because right now it feels like we are leaving forever and that we’ll never get to enjoy these things again.
As these last few days in the US dwindle away it’s been drawn to my attention how much privilege we have and how much we take it for granted. God has been continuously speaking to me these past couple weeks…”It’s only 9 months, you are coming back.”
This blog is pretty short and to the point, so here’s my advice…
- This is only 9 months of your life, that is the size of a mustard seed compared to your entire lifespan and life in eternity.
- You are coming back and your favorite food items, clothing stores, coffee shops, etc. will be here when you get back.
- This is a time to be focusing on Jesus and His people. To focus on what He has called you into and what He has planned.
- Focus on where the light of Jesus needs to be brought even before you leave on the missions field. Your own home is a mission field.
- Draw into the love and time that your family and friends are pouring out to you!
- And…You are coming back!!! This is only 9 months.
