I’ve been home for two weeks now. That’s two weeks of readjusting to American culture, American food, and American weather. It’s also been two weeks of getting a lot of questions with the biggest one being “So, what’s next for you?” and I have an for you. I’m going on another mission trip.

Let me explain; no, I am not heading off to another country to live in my tent or out of a backpack, instead, I am living my life like its a mission trip because let’s be honest: it is.

Jesus didn’t just call those with a passport to serve others and do His will, He asked all of us. One of the most used “missional minded” pieces of scripture is Matthew 28, the Great Commission:

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”   Matthew 28:19-20

And don’t get me wrong, it’s a great piece of scripture, one that I memorized years ago, but I think I, like many others, have forgotten one of the nations Jesus was talking about, this one. Right here, in America, we need Jesus

Not in a political way or even a religious way, but in a human natured way, we need Jesus.

So no, I am not packing my bags and grabbing my passport to jump on a plane, but I am preparing for my next mission, my home.

Many people have told me to continue writing past the Race and after a lot of prayer and nudging from those closet to me, I decided to do just that. God told me that my mission field was going to be bigger than I could have ever imagined, but that He will be with me every step of the way down this journey. I invite each and everyone of you to join me too at www.crazyweirdgood.com

My next physical mission field is Tupelo, Mississippi, where I’m moving to in a few weeks. My team is my fiancé (!!) and the community we have there. My mission is to serve those around me, whoever they may be. They may be people I encounter through a job, the server at a restaurant, the person sitting next to me in church. My prayer during this upcoming chapter of life is that God divinely places people in my path and in my life to encounter and learn from.

You may be thinking “thats not a mission trip, that’s right” and you would be right. What if we all lived our lives like we are on a mission trip? How beautiful of a world would that be? Let’s fill our world, right here, with stories of how God moves in, through, and around us. That’s what I want. I want to see God in every person and every interaction and to share with everyone His glory and His lessons. I encourage you to do the same. God gave each of us a story to tell, don’t let yours go untold.

“God points us in the direction of these things and whispers go, love, serve, help, clothe, and feed. Sure, go to India if that’s where He leads, but if you’re not sure, go across the street while you’re waiting for more clarity. Don’t get stuck getting ready. Go. Draw a one-hundred-foot circle around yourself and go love everybody inside it. Figure out what you’re passionate about, what you’re good at, and what will outlast you and then do a ton of that. Practice being ready to be used by God and the people around you” – Maria Goff: Love Lives Here
